SNCF is the French leader in rail transport, bringing together several entities (SNCF Réseau, SNCF Voyageurs, Gares & Connexions, and others) and more than 260,000 staff. The company generates an annual revenue of 40 billion euros. Saaswedo has supported the IT Procurement and Operations departments since 2017 with a dedicated team of 10 specialists, covering a perimeter of 240,000 mobile, M2M, and IoT lines across more than 3,000 stations and facilities.

The build phase was structured around three pillars adapted to the scale of the perimeter. First, framework workshops were held for each work stream: catalog structuring, existing asset integration, and operational process management. Then, deployment with platform configuration, testing, iterative adjustments, functional acceptance testing (UAT), and training of the 950 fleet managers across the territory. Finally, the implementation of a RACI to clarify governance between the various SNCF entities (Réseau, Voyageurs, Gares & Connexions, and others) and Saaswedo teams.
The run phase orchestrates a recurring six-step operational cycle: carrier invoice integration into the platform, data integrity and consistency checks, automation monitoring for order management and allocation, request tracking raised by the 950 fleet managers, management of releases and functional updates, then regular governance committees with SNCF teams for strategic steering and alignment between the various group entities.
Our solution is built around a Single Support Window that orchestrates a complete flow between SNCF users (Procurement, Finance, IT, Business Units, fleet managers) and the carrier ecosystem. The single window handles requests and incidents, and relies on custom settings for each entity. Platform-side: financial management (dashboard, KPIs, verifications), order management (device management actions, internal services, lines), carrier management (price catalog, invoices), asset management (assets, usages), user management (organization, directory, analytical allocation), and catalog management. The whole system is interconnected with SNCF’s HR information system.
SNCF now has a single solution to centralize the management of its 26 business fleets and harmonize internal processes, despite the diversity of its entities. A clear view of the asset base is ensured through an up-to-date repository, interconnected with the group’s HR system. The industrialization of orders and management actions respects the group’s quality standards across an exceptional perimeter. Finally, the unified portal for fleet managers enables SLA steering, cost control, and simplified tracking, freeing the 950 non-specialist managers from repetitive tasks so they can refocus on their core business.
